Break a Leg

Today is the day. I would be getting nervous but still very excited. I would try and remember all that I have been taught by all the amazing people that taught me. I would go have a Sue's bagel and a chocolate coffee freeze from The Grind and talk to Jorin and thumb through the Reader while watching people walk through Lincoln Square. I would talk to my mother on the phone and tell her how excited I am.

Today is the first night of the 8-week run of shows by my former class at Improv Olympic.

And I am not there to perform with them.

I imagine that it we would have a great time and be clicking with each other and make wonderful things happen upstairs in the Del Close Theatre of IO. I imagine that there would be some frustration that almost always happens with the pressure of performing in front of people. I imagine that we would all go out afterwards to Mullen's or John Barleycorn and ride the rush of endorphins through to the early AM, when we are finally kicked out of the bar. Then, we would probably scrounge around for some food somewhere, maybe Chicago's for some deep dish pizza.

I miss them. I miss Allison, Anthony, Jill, Julie, Grant, Vanessa, Laura, Mark, George, Boumenot, Daflos, Chip, Louie, Rob, Erin, and Jorin (and any others that I may have missed inadvertantly). I wish them good luck and great shows for the next 8 weeks. I wish for them to all get on teams at IO, but to never lose the fellowship that they have found in each other. I will be thinking about them tonight. Break a leg, Chicago Sashay Company!
